HUBZone Communities Alliance respects your privacy. This page explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who we are
HUBZone Communities Alliance is a program of HUBZone Council, Inc., a nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Maryland and recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This policy covers the website at hubzonealliance.org.
Our learning platform at arc.hubzonealliance.org is a separate system with its own accounts and sign-in. Information you enter there is handled for the purpose of running the course you are enrolled in.
Information you give us
You only give us personal information if you choose to — by emailing us, filling in a form on this site, or applying to one of our programs. That can include:
- your name
- your email address and, if you provide it, your phone number
- your organization and your role in it
- the community or region you are asking about
- anything else you choose to write in a message or an application
We ask only for what we need to answer you, or to run the program you are applying to.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our web server keeps a log of the requests it receives. A log entry records the requesting IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and the browser used. We use these logs to keep the site running and to protect it from abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress, the software this site runs on, sets cookies only when someone signs in to the site’s administration area — that is our staff, not visitors.
If you arrived from a LinkedIn ad
We advertise on LinkedIn. If you reached this site by clicking one of our ads, LinkedIn — not us — recorded that click, under LinkedIn’s own privacy policy and the ad settings on your LinkedIn account.
We do not place LinkedIn tracking code on this website, and we do not receive a list of the people who saw or clicked our ads.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry.
- To assess and administer applications to our programs.
- To send you updates you have asked to receive.
- To meet reporting obligations where a program is grant-funded.
- To keep this website secure and working.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to anyone else for their own marketing.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers. They handle your information only in order to provide their service to us:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting for this website and its server logs, in the United States.
- Microsoft 365 — our email, and the forms we use to collect enquiries and applications.
We may also share information where the law requires it, or where a grant-funded program obliges us to report participation data to the funder. Where that applies, we say so at the point we collect the information.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to deal with the matter, and are then routinely deleted. Program applications and participation records are kept for as long as the funding agreement or our record-keeping obligations require, which is usually several years after a program ends. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then overwritten.
Your choices and your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it
- stop sending you email updates
Email info@hubzonealliance.org and we will respond. Depending on where you live, local privacy law may give you these rights formally; we will honor them either way, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
This website and our programs are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
This site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to the systems holding personal information is restricted, and we keep the software updated. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information — for example if we add analytics or advertising tracking to this site — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
